Text Block #1

1. The Dirt, Sweat & Beers race series is open to legal United States residents who are 21 years of age or older.

2.  You must officially register for a Dirt, Sweat & Beers course and pay your registration fee to participate. Registration designations include man, woman, and open gender.

3. You must be registered for a course before you can complete it. You may not complete the course and then register for the event after completing the course. Any personal information submitted by registrants will be used in accordance with the privacy policy posted on the registration website.

4. The person completing a course must be the person who registered for the course and completed the participant waiver. You are not permitted to participate under another registrant’s name, nor is another person permitted to participate under your name.

5. In order for your results to be successfully uploaded to the RunGo leaderboard and attached to your registration, the First Name, Last Name, and Email Address you input when uploading your results to the leaderboard must match the First Name, Last Name, and Email Address entered at the time of your registration.

6. You must complete the course on foot. Completing the course on a bike or any other form of transportation, with the exception of a wheelchair, is not permitted. Please note that some courses will include natural terrain and trails, so they may not be wheelchair accessible.

7. You must follow state and local COVID health and safety guidelines.

8. You must follow all rules and regulations set forth by the recreation area where the course is located.

9. To be eligible for "5K/10K Top Finishers" prizes:
      a. You must complete the course in the fastest time in the gender category in which you are registered.

      b. You must officially register for the course and record your run with the RunGo app, in real-time, from start to finish. When you finish, you will be prompted to enter your email address, which will in turn populate your result to the leaderboard. You will know that you have successfully run the course using the RunGo app when the “verified” and "race route" columns are checked next to your results on the leaderboard.  REI is not responsible for any technical malfunction, failure or error experienced with the RunGo app or any device you use to complete the course or any communications line or network failure, regardless of cause.  RunGo app results will be used to determine the top finishers.
      c. Manual result uploads are not eligible to win prizes for "5K/10K Top Finishers." If you would like to participate in the event without the RunGo app, you are still permitted to participate. Your results, however, will not be verifiable and will not be eligible for prizes.
      d. You must complete the course within the allotted 60-day period that the course is open.
            i. The 60-day period is defined as: from 12:00 AM on the first day that the course is indicated to open, to 11:59 PM on the 60th day of the race period.

ii. Please be mindful of park hours in each event location and plan your visit accordingly.
      e. Once you’ve registered for a course, you can run it as many times as you would like within the 60-day period that the course is active. All RunGo app attempts will be added to the leaderboard, but only your best time will count.

10. To be eligible for "Overall 5K/10K Series Champions" prizes:
      a. You must be the participant in your gender category that completes the highest number of courses, out of what is currently contemplated to be 16 available courses throughout the Dirt, Sweat & Beers series. The “16 available courses” are defined as the eight (8) Dirt, Sweat & Beers events across the region from June to November 2021, each with a 5K and 10K, totaling 16 courses.
      b. You must officially register for each course and record each run with the RunGo app, in real-time, from start to finish. When you finish each course, you will be prompted to enter your email address, which will in turn populate your result to the leaderboard. You will know that you have successfully run each course using the RunGo app when the “verified” and "race route" columns are checked next to your results on the leaderboard.
      c. Manual result uploads are not eligible to win prizes for "Overall 5K/10K Series Champions." If you would like to participate in the event without the RunGo app, you are still permitted to participate and upload your results manually. Your results, however, will not be verifiable and will not be eligible for prizes.
      d. You must complete each course within the allotted 60-day period that the course is open.

            i. The 60-day period is defined as: from 12:00 AM on the first day that the course is indicated to open, to 11:59 PM on the 60th day of the race period.
ii. Please be mindful of park hours in each event location and plan your visit accordingly.
      e. In the event that multiple runners within one gender category are tied for the highest number of courses completed in that gender category, the winner in that category will be determined by the top placement in all courses, of those with the highest number of courses completed in that gender category.  If a tie persists, the highest average placement across all courses will be used to break the tie.
      f. Multiple runs on the same course do not count towards your overall total. Only unique courses run, of the 16 total available courses, will be counted towards your total.  If REI is able to convert any of the courses that make up the race series to an in-person race, as opposed to a virtual race, that race may be officially timed and that official time will determine the winners of that course.  Any in-person race will have 5K/10K Top Finisher Prizes, but because the in-person race will occur on a single day as opposed to a 60-day completion window, any such in-person race will not count toward the Overall 5K/10K Series Champions prize.

      g. A 10K course and 5K course in the same recreation area are considered different courses and will be counted individually towards your total.

11. Prizes pictured in advertising or promotional materials are for illustrative purposes only.  The actual prize may vary from the prize pictured.  All details and restrictions of the prizes not specified will be determined by REI in its sole discretion. Winners shall be solely responsible for all federal, state, and/or local taxes including, without limitation, income taxes and any reporting consequences thereof in connection with any prize. No cash alternative or substitution of prizes will be allowed, except REI reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute prize(s) of comparable or greater value if any prize is unavailable, in whole or in part, for any reason.  REI is unable to accurately predict how many people will choose to participate in any particular course or the race series overall.  If, for any reason, the race series is not capable of running as planned due to causes beyond the control of REI which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the race series, then REI reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, modify, suspend or terminate the race series in whole or in part. If the series is terminated in part, REI will exclude the affected course(s) in determining the winners, and if the series is terminated in its entirety after it has begun, REI will select a winner(s) based on all valid course completions received up to the point of termination.  Submitting a registration constitutes an electronic signature, which shall have the same force and effect as a signature in ink, signifying the registrant’s agreement to these Official Rules and the Release of Liability/Assumption of Risk Agreement that can also be accessed on the registration website.
